Peak Cable

The number of Americans who pay for TV through cable, satellite or fiber services fell by more than a quarter of a million in 2013, the first full-year decline, according to research firm SNL Kagan. If the slide continues in the coming years, that means 2012 was the industry’s high point.

I cut my cable late last year and only regret not doing it sooner. I went from a $160 cable and internet bill to a $37 internet bill, a fairly nice savings. Now to be fair I have added in Hulu Plus (we were already Netflix Streaming and Amazon Priming) but even with the added cost of Hulu, I'm still saving an easy $100 per month, which could be put towards our child's college fund, but that I instead like to burn on expensive 4-packs of craft IPAs.
