Maybe you're like me, I hear "Tinder of" and immediately get a queasy feeling about what comes next, but don't let that sway you from trying out Flic by developer Life Hack Labs. Flic is, yes, a Tinder-like (is that hyphenated? I'm not sure) that boils down managing your burgeoning camera roll to simple swipes left (to delete) and right (to keep) of extra big thumbnails - one month at a time. Swipe your way through a given month, and Flic sends you to its virtual trash can, where swiped deletes can be removed for good, or for the "you can never have too many of the exact same photo" types, unchecked and sent back to the camera roll for next time. That's basically it, and it makes Flic the easiest and fastest way to blow through a gazillion photos in no time at all.
Looks good, works better
Flic's UI is perfectly simple and aesthetically pleasing. Unlike your camera roll's bulk delete, Flic's jumbo thumbnails make it easy to spot those slightly blurry duplicates or unflattering selfies, swiping animations are just like butter, and a storage counter motivates you to keep going as you begin to reclaim the room you'll eventually need to upgrade to iOS 9. To keep you on track, Flic sends you a notification once a month to tidy things up, and even sort of helps you celebrate when you've cleaned up that month's photos with a fun little splash page.
Caveats and Conclusion
So as I started, Tinder for your camera roll may not sound all that great, but when compared to the tedium of tapping and deleting your way through hundreds of not so great photos with the gems buried few and far between, Flic starts to seem pretty great. Mind you that Flic isn't perfect, you can't just dive in anywhere on your camera roll and you can't dig into your folders, but as a one-trick pony utility app for slicing your way through hordes of photos simply just occupying space on your phone, Flic is well worth a $2.00 download (editor: actually $0.99 for a limited time, so really, really worth it in that case).
Flic by Lifehack Labs Requires iOS 8.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
