Microsoft puts brave face on SkyDrive to OneDrive rebrand

Ryan Gavin, General Manager, Consumer Apps & Services at Microsoft:

Why OneDrive? We know that increasingly you will have many devices in your life, but you really want only one place for your most important stuff. One place for all of your photos and videos. One place for all of your documents. One place that is seamlessly connected across all the devices you use. You want OneDrive for everything in your life. link

but really it was more about this:

Microsoft is changing the name of Skydrive, its cloud storage service, after a legal challenge by BSkyB. It follows a High Court ruling in June that the name infringed the broadcaster’s trademark. The judge had said there was evidence Skydrive’s name had caused confusion among the public. Microsoft had originally said it would appeal. The tech company said it has now agreed to change the name worldwide after a “transition period”. link

And any second this will be unofficially branded “BoneDrive” on Reddit.
