I'm old enough and lucky enough to remember my dad bringing home the first Mac and relishing in the novelty of its “real” desktop and the magic of MacPaint. It's strange to think of my fascination with the Macintosh while looking over my dad's shoulder now that I'm a dad. My Mac is radically different and infinitely more powerful and yet they're both still recognizable as personal computers, there is a connection, even if oh so slight. It makes me wonder what my son and I might be using in thirty years and will the connection to today be as apparent. I'm inclined to think no, because the form factor of computers has shifted to smaller and much more personal devices like tablets, phones, and more recently “wearables”. I'm doubtful that there'll even be Macs thirty years from now, and if there are, they'll likely be implanted in your wrist or something to that effect, but if they're around, and if I'm around, I'm willing to bet I'll have one.
